The Wealth of Experience of Elderly People – A Benefit for SocietyThe Andrássy University is implementing the European research project „Experience keep people active – ExpAct”, which is aimed at facilitating the preservation and transfer of elderly people’s experience and know-how for the benefit of future generations.
Demographic change is affecting Europe and Hungary at an ever-increasing pace. Dealing with this phenomenon has previously had a predominantly problem-oriented approach and topics such as poverty in old age or age dependency have shaped our image of ageing and older people. However, results of studies draw a different image of those affected mostly: the leitmotif of the generation 55+ is to remain independent and active for as long as possible. The positive attitude of elderly people holds an enormous potential and various implications for society as a whole from an economic and social point of view. The Andrássy University is implementing the European research project „Experience keep people active – ExpAct”, which is aimed at facilitating the preservation and transfer of elderly people’s experience and know-how for the benefit of future generations. Within the frame of this project, a workshop is being organized to gain a better understanding of the societal background and the socio-demographic situation of elderly people in Hungary and to explore ways to make better use of the untapped potential of this growing section of the population. We look forward to learning about your views on potentials for active ageing in Hungary and to having a fruitful discussion with you!
