The Danube Institute (Donau-Institut – Institution for studies about and research on the Danube Region and on European Integration) is the central institution of Andrássy University Budapest (AUB) which serves to represent and profile the various research projects conducted in the fields that are present at the university (with special regard to the fields of history, politics, law, and economics), as well as endeavors to connect university research activities with other research institutes in Hungary, in the associate countries of Andrássy University Budapest, and in other Central- and Eastern European countries.

Central to Andrássy University Budapest's research efforts are the projects connected to European Integration and to the Danube Region that are primarily concerned with the comparative perspectives of the region's political, economic, legal, and historical-cultural issues, while they also look into how these issues are linked to Europe.
